Swelling and inflammation of the liver cells caused by a virus or a harmful substance.
Hepatitis harms the liver’s ability to make protein, clean the blood and digest fat. One of the clear signs is yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice). There are different types: some spread through food and dirty water, and others through blood and unclean equipment. A vaccine exists for some types.
«To protect his liver, the doctor advised him not to take any medicine without a doctor's advice.»
