Shows the average size of the red blood cells.
Shows the average size of the red blood cells. Small cells (low MCV) are often seen with iron deficiency and in thalassaemia carriers; large cells (high MCV) can be linked to low vitamin B12 or folic acid, alcohol or some medicines.
