Decreased levothyroxine absorption via altered gastric pH
Omeprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion, impairing optimal dissolution and absorption of levothyroxine in the proximal small intestine.
Take levothyroxine on an empty stomach at least 4 hours apart from omeprazole, or switch to an evening bedtime regimen. Retest TSH in 6-8 weeks.
